Elon Musk is an accomplished business man, investor, engineer, and investor. But even though he is the founder, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX and the CEO of Tesla Inc., he is also willing to listen to advice, even if it comes from a 10-year old girl.
According to CNN Tech, after receiving a letter from a fifth-grader, Elon Musk is now planning a fan competition for the next Tesla commercial. This is the first time that the company will be holding such a prestigious contest, and it is all thanks to Bria Loveday.
Bria, who wants to be a politician when she grows up, resides near Detroit. Last Wednesday, Musk tweeted his thanks to the little girl.
Bria's precocious letter reads, "I have noticed that you do not advertise, but many people make homemade commercials for Tesla and some of them are very good, they look professional and are entertaining. So, I think that you should run a competition on who can make the best homemade Tesla commercial and the winners will get their commercial aired."
Steven Loveday, Bria's father, is a reporter for Inside EVs, an electric car news site. "Tesla doesn't need to advertise because its demand exceeds its capacity to build cars," Steven said. But he also added that both he and Bria think the various fan-created videos for Tesla are amazing and could be put to better use by the company itself.
Steven also told CNN that his daughter initially planned on sending her letter to Tesla's CEO via snail mail. He did remind her that it would take too long for the letter to reach the company headquarters in Palo Alto, California, so he emailed Bria's letter to Tesla's public relations instead.
The company quickly replied and within less than an hour, Steven was told by a Tesla representative that she would be giving Bria's letter to Musk herself. Steven added that he was surprised to receive a reply in about 30 minutes. Bria's father had just enough time to pick her up from karate class. Tesla will also be sending Bria a complimentary shirt via snail mail.
The Drive added that a Tesla spokesperson has confirmed the upcoming contest. However, the carmaker still hasn't announced the details for the fan competition for homemade commercials yet.
