American car manufacturer Chevrolet is not only after upping the Mustang. It is also after upping itself by releasing the Camaro Z/28 which is said to be a lot faster and more powerful than the Camaro ZL1.

What is known about the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 so far? The Camaro ZL1 is known to sport a 650-horsepower LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with an eight-speed manual transmission. It is said to have a top speed of 193 miles per hour but has been known to have hit 202.3 miles per hour. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. The ZL1 is considered as a beast on the race track thanks to its 1LE handling package.

So what about the Camaro Z/28? It is speculated that the car manufacturer is patiently planning for its next muscle car. The muscle car will allegedly sport a 700 horsepower or more naturally aspirated engine and a more than capable race track chassis. The vehicle will be mostly likely sport the Z/28 nameplate which was born from the Z-cars of the company's Trans-Am road racing exploits.

Enthusiasts will mostly like see a Z/28 in a few more months. It could likely sport a 750-ish-horsepower version of the supercharged V8 that will be found under the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1's hood. This new engine will most likely comprise of an aluminum block and black construction, dual overhead camshafts, direct fuel injection, four-valve combustion chambers, titanium rods, and a flat crankshaft. It is further speculated that it will sport 5.5 liters of displacement to produce the goal of above 700 horsepower.

According to auto website Car and Driver, this type of engine may eventually end up in future Camaros, Corvettes, and even Cadillacs starting with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and then the C8 Corvette Z06. The Z/28 will most likely be released as a 2019 model.
