The record breaking vehicle is an all-white Audi A6 all-road 3.0 according to the release. No other premium brand in the world is even close to producing five million vehicles with a quattro drive system.

"Quattro is one of the key pillars of our brand and has been a critical factor in our successful history," said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG according to the press release. "The quattro permanent all-wheel drive makes it possible to directly experience our 'Vorsprung durch Technik.' We are committed to our pioneering role and will continue to develop this advantage with new technologies."

Quattro technology was introduced in 1980 in the original and historic quattro vehicle. Since then the company has created over 140 different models with unique body types and engines. Some of those vehicles include the Audi Q7, R8, A4 and all RS and S models.

Audi claims that quattro represents more than a technology, but rather driving safety, technical competence and a certain attitude that doesn't allow unpleasant driving conditions to prevent it from going somewhere.

The company claims studies have proven approximately 43 percent of their customers chose a quattro vehicle in 2012, which is the highest amount ever recorded.

Quattro models sell well in locations like Canada, Russia, the Middle East and the U.S. according to the company release. Audi sold 99,800 new models in Germany alone in 2012.

Customers can have their vehicles customized by Audi and also order specific accessories as well. Over 800 employees work on quattro technology and enhancements alone according to the press release.
