Alpine, the hero from 1950, is revived by Renault. Not only did it make a comeback, the brand is set to launch its competitor to the Porsche Cayman - the Alpine A110. It is reported that the coupe will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The pictures that the French automaker released resemble the spy shots that were released earlier.

The Alpine brand has a long history. It dates back to the 1950s. The brand was always very ambitious of becoming a player in the sports-car segment in global markets. Earlier, the car has been successful in motorsports events too. From the last two decades, the brand has been rather quiet. Now, it is all set to make a comeback.

From what is revealed in the pictures, the Alpine coupe is extremely attractive. Alpine has always been too keen on losing weight and improving efficiency and agility. This is reflected in the aluminum platform and body of the Alpine A110, reported Auto Blog.

There are reports that are doing rounds that the all-new Alpine A110 will have a 1.8-liter turbo powered four-banger engine that will add on power for propulsion. This engine is able to deliver 250hp and 300hp. It is also reported that the car will zoom to 100 km/h (62 mph) from 0 in a matter of 4.5 seconds, reported Carscoops.

The brand has already started taking orders for the Premiere Edition of the A110. Renault expects a token deposit of €2,000, which translated to $2,115, to book the car.

According to reports, the Alpine brand is being renewed through the Alpine A110 by its owner, Renault. The name that the coupe donned in the 1960s and the 1970s was retained. Not just the name, it was revealed that retro styling cues were used in the car that is to be unveiled in Geneva.
