Samsung's much awaited 2017 flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, will finally launch this coming March 29. However, some photos and videos had leaked over the weekend allegedly revealing the final designs of both devices.
Based on a photo posted to Slash Leaks and videos on YouTube, both smartphones appear to have curved, edge-to-edge display and omit physical home buttons for virtual ones. The 3.5mm headphone jacks remain, despite the technology being junked by other Android smartphones and the iPhone 7.
The video also shows two working handsets with a design very similar to what previous leaks revealed. The fingerprint scanner is located at the back just right next to the rear camera. A USB-C charging port and a speaker are also located at the bottom.
In addition, the leak confirms the always on display support that is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. It shows a volume rocker located on the left, while the power button is located on the right. Below the power button is a new physical button, which suggests that it could be used to activate the Bixby Assistant.
Anticipation for the flagship smartphones still continue to grow as the release date for the devices gets nearer. Previous speculations suggest that it will launch with a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED displays.
Samsung is reportedly skipping the regular version, and both smartphones will feature a dual-curved edge displays. It will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processors, while select markets will have the Exynos-powered variant.
Furthermore, both of the devices are anticipated to come with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while China is more likely to get an extra 6GB RAM option. The flagship phones will also be waterproofed and are expected to improve the camera with new features.
The major attraction would be the Bixby AI assistant, that comes with visual recognition abilities. The new AI assistant is based on VIV platform and will provide deep integration with system applications. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus could launch at a lower price compared to the Google Pixel and iPhone 7 Plus.
