Chinese smartphone maker ZTE is once again updating its current lineup of budget-friendly devices. The latest to join the family are two ZTE Blade phones which were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
As with almost every budget-friendly devices, the two ZTE Blade phones are not exactly heavy hitters when it comes to hardware specs and features. However, they offer an alternative and affordable option for users who do not have much to spare when it comes to choosing a smartphone.
First is the ZTE Blade V8 Mini. The phone sports a dual-camera configuration with a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel shoots on the rear. This dual-camera configuration allows users to take photos with blurred backgrounds which create a "bokeh" effect to the photo, according to CNet.
Under the hood, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It has 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage space which can be expanded using a microSD card. The phone has a 5-inch display with 720p resolution. It has a fingerprint scanner and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. It has a 2,800mAh non-removable battery pack.
A slightly scaled down version of the Mini is the ZTE Blade V8 Lite. It has the same 5-inch display as the mini and it supports Full HD resolution. According to Android Authority, it has a less powerful MediaTek MT6750 chipset with an octa-core processor, 2GB of memory, and 16GB of storage space with microSD card support.
On the camera aspect, the Blade V8 Lite does not sport a dual-camera setup, instead, it only has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. It also packs a slightly lower battery capacity rated at 2500mAh. It still has the fingerprint scanner and also runs on Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.
The ZTE Blade V8 Mini will be released in Europe and Asia Pacific, while the Blade V8 Lite will be released in Spain, Germany, and Italy. Neither of the two smartphones will hit the United States.
