In a savage and violent attack at a New York City laundromat, an enraged man attacked a customer and then sprayed the customer and the man's six-year-old daughter with mace.

A surveillance video footage released Monday by the New York Police Department shows a few quick scenes of a brutish-looking man entering the laundry and then assaulting a man standing next to a clothes dryer, hitting him in the face and kicking him while he is down, then spraying a can of mace at the man and his daughter.

The attack took place at a coin laundry in New York's Bronx borough. The suspect, 27-year-old Fernando Gonzalez, surrendered and was arrested a few hours after the attack took place.

The male victim was identified as Derrick Dunn, according to The Christian Post.

Several media outlets covering the story report that Dunn and Gonzalez's girlfriend had been in an argument over the use of a laundry cart. However the New York Post, citing police reports, said the argument was over a plastic card used by customers for prepayment on washers and dryers.

It's alleged that Gonzalez came to the laundry and assaulted Dunn in an act of revenge for his girlfriend. The video footage shows Gonzalez, a sizable man, holding Dunn and hitting him repeatedly.

The choppy video then shows the alleged attacker macing the 47-year-old Dunn and his daughter.

The incident occurred Saturday at 6:10 p.m., when the laundromat on White Plains Rd. near Robertson St. was very busy.

"It was really, really awful," said an unnamed witness, according to Gothamist. "The way he beat that man was horrible,"
