Jeep officially said farewell to its current-generation Wrangler with the debut of the Rubicon Recon in Chicago. Fans are now waiting for the next-generation 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been spied testing once again. Motor 1 recently released new images of the said vehicle for everyone to see.

Although it is camouflaged, the new features are apparent. The new spy photos show the next gen Wrangler in less camouflage than before.

The 2018 model looks sleeker than the previous ones. It also features a slightly revised front grille. A fixed windshield is also one of the new features.

One more important new feature will be the backup camera. This is obviously something that's never been seen before on the Wrangler.

The new and improved Jeep Wrangler has been spotted in Detroit for testings. More of its body panels were exposed.

Underneath the camouflage, the new Wrangler's body is made from new aluminum and steel construction. This new body will help bring the weight down significantly. Under the hood, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will come equipped with the Pentastar V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission will come as the standard.

However, a new 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine and a turbocharged four-cylinder "Hurricane" engine are also expected to be one of the choices. Aside from the facts given above, there is still more to be revealed regarding the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's features. There are also speculations surrounding a hybrid powertrain.

All in all, the 2018 Wrangler will have the same ruggedness of the previous Jeep products but boasts an improved ergonomics and efficiency at the same time. This makes the SUV a tad bit more mainstream.

As of the moment, there is still no official announcement regarding the new Wrangler's debut. But some expect it to be at the Los Angeles Auto Show on the latter part of the year, or at the Detroit Auto Show on 2018.
