Nothing will ever beat the classics. The NES Classic Edition proved that over the holidays and after every time it gets restocked and ends up being sold out.

The NES Classic Edition as a universal gaming emulator. No one would have expected that the Classic Edition gaming console would sell like hotcakes during the holidays. It still does with Amazon restocking it earlier this week and listing it as out of stock the next day.

The NES Class Edition from Nintendo comes pre-installed with classic games such as Metroid, Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda, and, of course, Super Mario Bros. All in all, one will be able to play 30 games. However, 30 games are really not that many given the large library of NES games there actually is. In addition, the gaming console is not designed to allow installation of games which is one of its only downsides.

However, thanks to optimistic modders, fans will now be able to play more than the allowed number of games on the NES Classic. It took roughly a month after it was released for a modder to successfully figure out a way to write more games into the gaming console's memory.

Russia-based developer Alexey Avdyukhin was able to come up with a Windows-based program that allows users modify the NES titles found on the gaming console. Called Hakchi2, users will be able to add and remove games on the NES Classic Edition using a surprisingly easy-to-use interface.

Although setting up Hakchi2 is a fairly quick process, users will feel apprehensive at first due to the installation of a third-party driver to successfully run it. However, once it's installed, users will be able to modify the contents of their Classic Edition gaming console with ease using just a PC.

It's been said that the program will also be able to load non-NES game titles such as ones for the N64, SNES, and even Sega Genesis. It should be noted that using Hakchi2 will obviously void the Classic Edition's warranty so it is best to tread carefully.
