Tech giant Google recently announced that it is rolling out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for the Nexus 6P flagship smartphone. However, the rollout is only limited to users who have participated to the Android Beta program.

The Nexus 6P Nougat update will be released through over-the-air. The update is about 1.29GB, and it includes new bug fixes, a handful of performance improvements, according to Android Police. The update is labeled as build NPG05F.

Since the release of Android 7.0 Nougat, owners of Nexus 6P devices have been anxiously waiting for the update to be rolled out for them. Beta testers may have received the update at long last, but there is one important feature that is missing.

According to Android Headlines, the update rolled out by Google for Nexus 6P devices does not include the fingerprint gestures feature. This is a bit peculiar for Google not to include the feature, considering the fact that the feature is already available for the Nexus 5X beta.

Tech analysts are still unsure as to why Google rolled out the fingerprint gesture feature to the Nexus 5X and disregard it to the Nexus 6P when both devices have practically the same fingerprint sensors. Despite this discrepancy, many in the tech community still believe that Google will release the feature in the future.

Users who have participated in the Google Android Beta Program should be able to receive the update by now. It has been three weeks since Google rolled out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat developer preview, and the update is packed with features and patches from the January Security Update.

It would appear that there are still a couple of bugs that have slipped into the latest NPG05F build for the Nexus 6P. Most notable of this unpatched bug is the one that prevented users from configuring their Wi-Fi settings.
