Dota 2's 7.02 patch put great chances in the game, plus nerfs and buffs heroes and items. Before the 7.02, the 7.00 Dota 2 changes the overall picture of the game. It included the introduction of shires, talents and map changes. Now the update of 7.02, it tweaks the games fine details.

According to Redbull, IceFrog decided to add a new plethora of tools to balance the game. Before, the game had mainstream heroes that were very overpowered. Now, the 112 heroes would have talents, which could turn a bad pick into a great material, or a great pick down a notch.

In the characters, Ember Spirit is greatly hit. His Spell Amplification went down from 15 percent to 12 percent. Also, his Active Fire Remnant is disabled during Root effects. This brings Ember Spirit down a level and even with other midlane heroes.

In Captain Mode, a series of characters were remove such as; Necrophos, Techies, Treant Protector and Lycan. The first hero to make it back into the competitive gameplay is Lycan.

Alone Druid was nerfed and his bear was buffed. Professionals would not place items on the Bear but build items for the hero, which is not his specialty. This unheard build made the hero mainstream, making it the most contested hero in the DAC qualifiers with a 77 percent pick rate. The hero is nerfed due to his specialty of long ranges, powerful escape, and add-ons of professional item build.

Furthermore, Dotabuff writes that Shrines are now vulnerable after a T3 tower dies. This would decrease map advantage in a span of minutes. Before you needed to take down a lane of towers before you could destroy a shrine. Also, now you could buy Sentry Wards in a pack of 1 for 100 gold instead of 2 for 200. This allows players to split the spending of gold and not let one player use most of their money to be a support thru out the whole game.

There is a lot more minor changes in the game. Overall, the big changes would make a difference now in competitive gaming. The Dota 7.02 would balance the game from leveling the heroes thru nerfing and buffing and also with the item built.
