Ford GT Competition Series: You’ve Never Seen Anything Like This Before

It has aerodynamically optimized shape, multifunctional buttresses, and extraordinarily powerful 3.5l EcoBoost V6 engine. Everything about the new Ford GT is designed to deliver pure performance.

New York Daily News tells the story of how Henry Ford II beat Ferrari at his own game. Back in the 1960s, Enzo Ferrari had financial problems and he began to shop around for a larger company to buy his company. Ford Motor Company was near completing a deal with Ferrari, but Enzo didn’t like all of the terms and eventually pulled out the deal. This made Henry Ford II furious. He decided to assemble the best team of drivers, engineers, and mechanics and they developed the best race car America had ever created, the Ford GT40. They proceed to in the Le Mans race and beat Ferrari.

According to Roadshow, the new version of Ford GT has an impressive top speed of 216mph and 647 horsepower. Ford aims to increase the performance of the car by shaving weight wherever it is possible. On the back, the lightweight Gorilla Glass engine hatch cover has already been replaced with an even lighter Perspex acrylic panel. Ford has also swapped the manual release for the rear hatch and is now using a carbon fiber prop.

On the front, the Gorilla Glass windshield still remains, and it is joined by a Gorilla Glass bulkhead between the engine bay and the passenger compartment that is half as thick and heavy as the standard panel. The standard GT had optional weight-reducing equipment such as carbon fiber wheels, titanium lug nuts, and a titanium exhaust.

They are all standard equipment on the Competition Series. The air condition, radio and speakers, storage bins and cupholders are all gone as well. On the outside, the Competition Series has exposed gloss carbon fiber stripe that runs the length of the exterior and exposed carbon fiber mirror caps.

The car will be available in Shadow Black, Frozen White, Ingot Silver, Liquid Blue, Liquid Grey and Triple Yellow. On the inside of the car, the driver is greeted by Black Alcantara seats and more carbon fiber. The center console, air vents, and door sills are all made out of carbon fiber.

The Competition Series will weigh 3054 pounds, but the weight of the standard GT is still a mystery. On the other hand, the price of the Standard GT is $450,000, but the price of the Competition Series is still unknown.
