Although the race track at 2017 Daytona 500 was four lanes wide, the last round of the race still ended with 16 cars crashing against each other. Jimmie Johnson, who caused the avoidable crash, was out of the race.

At first, Jamie McMurray had an advantageous start during the 2017 Daytona 500 race last Sunday. However, when he came out of Turn 2 despite the minimal gap he had from Jimmie Johnson's position, the result ended in collusion. When Johnson tied for a four-wide race into Turn 3, the collision happened, reported Jalopnik.

 Speaking to Fox Sports, the accident could have been avoided by Johnson but the minute he went for Turn 2 in a swift way, he kept getting hit and the rear tires blasted. In fact, he had known that the turn would call for humungous amounts of energy, he still went for it. As a result, his vehicle got turned when he shifted to Turn 3. Luckily, none of the 16 drivers got injured in the collision.

In other news, SB Nation reported that the collision paved the way for Kyle Busch to avoid his ride from being part of the crash. During the 2017 Daytona 500 race, drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Erik Jones, and Matt Kenseth, failed to avoid the first collision. However, after the green-flag pit stop, Busch lost pressure entering into Turn 3 when Earnhardt tried to pass him. The latter's move caused all of the Toyota team members to collide.

During an interview, Busch revealed that they did nothing wrong. In fact, he insisted that the Goodyear tires were to blame since they were not built to hold that much air and that this defect had been present for every single year they have competed.

The winner of the 2017 Daytona 500 race was Busch. However, his victory was not without difficulty as 16 cars had to crash their way to the finish.
