Apple is in the spotlight these days for one of its iPhone 7 plus units that reportedly exploded and caught fire. Now, Apple is investigating this unfortunate report head on.

Brianna Olivas, the phone's owner from Arizona was said to be sleeping when her boyfriend noticed that her phone is smoking and emitting strange noises. Instinctively, Olivas' boyfriend took the iPhone 7 away from her.

He then took a video of the phone emitting smoke that has now gone viral, even viewed a million times. BBC reported that Apple has now replaced the damaged phone and case and investigating the viral video.

The Arizona teen explained she had noticed some problems with the phone. She explained that the phone would not turn on, which prompted her to go to Apple's service center.

Brianna Olivas explained that Apple ran a diagnostic on her phone and found nothing wrong with it. Until the next morning, when she woke up to her burning phone.

"I was asleep with my phone charging next to my head, my boyfriend grabbed the phone and put it on the dresser. He went to the restroom and from the corner of his eye, he saw my phone steaming and [heard] a squealing noise," Gizmodo quoted Olivas' tweet.

"By the time he got over to the phone it had already caught fire, he quickly grabbed the phone and threw it in the restroom as soon as he threw [it] in the restroom, it blew up and more smoke started coming out of the phone," she added.

She added that the phone emitted a foul smell. Brianna Olivas explained that the iPhone 7 plus unit that she owned made her entire apartment smell.

Thankfully, Apple did not receive any other similar complaints on their iPhone 7 plus. It is probably safe to assume that there's no widespread problem regarding this iPhone unit.

Hopefully, this will not put a dent on Apple's other products such as watchOS 4. Auto World News reported that this Apple product will hit stores this year.
