2017 Mazda CX-3 Review: Petite, Sporty, and Fun to Drive

The 2017 Mazda CX-3 is fun to drive and sporty. It has a good engine and good safety and tech features.

Pros and Features. The 2017 CX-3 is a subcompact crossover SUV that seats five. It has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is capable of 146 horsepower and equal pound-feet of torque. The vehicle only comes in six-speed automatic.

The CX3 has standard antilock brakes, front side airbags, and stability and traction control. It also has side curtain airbags and a rearview camera. The cabin looks very sleek and contemporary. It comes with plenty of useful tech features.

The compact crossover SUV has excellent fuel economy and a sporty handling. This really makes the Mazda CX-3 fun to drive. It also remains impressively quiet even at highway speeds.

The car's front seats are very comfortable and supportive. It also has high-quality interior and appealing features.

Cons. According to Top Gear, the crossover SUV has poor interior quality. Its rear seat is also very snug, and its cargo capacity significantly limits the CX-3's versatility.

Models. The CX3 comes in three different trims: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. The base Sport model comes with 16-inch wheels, automatic headlights, and a rear roof spoiler. It also has push-button ignition, cruise control, and a lot of tech features.

The Touring adds keyless entry and ignition, heated mirrors, and 18-inch wheels. It also has blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, premium vinyl upholstery, and other comfort features.

According to Car and Driver, the Grand Touring adds LED fog lights and taillights, adaptive LED headlights, and a sunroof. It also has upgraded instrumentation, leather and synthetic suede upholstery, and a Bose sound system. It also adds a navigation system and automatic climate control.

Verdict. The 2017 Mazda CX-3 is a fun and sporty choice. While the interior may be too petite for some, it is perfect for those who don't need the extra space.
