Nissan Altima, Pathfinder and Infinity QX4  faced a drawback recently after its recall was announced due to faulty door wiring and defective airbag inflator.  As a result, more than 150,000  Pathfinder and Infiniti QX4 cars have been taken back while almost 341,005 Altima sedans of model year 2015 through 2017.

The recall made by the company to Nissan Altima is due to its risk of spontaneous opening of the rear doors when the windows are lowered.  As what was mentioned in Rttnews, this defect is rooted from the improper routing of the rear door latch or lock cable of the car, that could result in injury to the rear passengers.  With the case of Nissan Pathfinder and Infinity QX4 SUVs, the recall was due to the defect of the Tanaka airbag inflators, that possibly could result to explosion once the airbags deploy.  

As a solution, the Japansese autobrand contacted and notified the owners about the situation, and will let the dealers assist them for its resolution.  For Nissan Altima, once the owners were contacted for an arrangement, their car dealer will fix its rear door latch.  Same as with Pathfinder and Infinity QX4, Nissan will have to change their existing Takata airbag inflators in the older SUV's, in which according to Carcomplaints, uses ammonium nitrate as their propellent, which is a highly explosive substance.  The company has announced that the replacement will be free of charge and none of the costumers needs to pay for the service.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced the recall of all Altima since February 2017, same as with Pathfinder and Infinity QX4.  The company also said that car owner can contact them directly by calling 1-800-647-7261 for other inquiries.
