The 2017 Ford Raptor has been reviewed in the toughest condition. It seems that the new F-150 can withstand any level of abuse.

Ford Racing's go-to Baja pro Greg Foutz took time out to test the 2017 Ford Raptor with Automobile Magazine's Zach Bowman. The latter described the ride experience to have brought his "innards to leap from his throat to the floor and back again" while the former sits comfortably while testing the truck.

Greg Foutz has been to Baja 14 times. A pre-production Raptor was even given to him in 2008. If there is one person who knows the Raptor well, it could only be Greg Foutz.

The test drive took six hours of hard running. They ripped the desert floor, passed through muddy trails, and hammered around the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series course.

It seems that the new F-150 did not care and has greatly endured the toughest test. Greg Foutz said, "I appreciate the challenge of designing something that can take this level of abuse."

Furthermore, the Baja pro expressed his views on Ford's decision to abandon steel and changed to an aluminum body structure for the new truck. According to Greg Foutz, the aluminum structure is not a threatening factor. He emphasized that no one can replace weight with horsepower.

The 2017 Ford Raptor sports has a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine creating 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The new truck has 10-speed transmission too.

The new F-150 differs with its predecessor in terms of EPA mileage. The predecessor came with 12 mpg on the highway and 13 mpg in the city, while the new Raptor can do 18 mpg on the highway and 15 mpg in the city.

The 2017 Ford Raptor also boasts of its latest Raptor-destined tuning technology which came from Magnaflow. This is one factor expected to calm down those who are complaining about the new cylinder count. In addition, Ford has reduced the weight with 500 lbs, AutoEvolution has noted.
