Audi A3 TDI Diesel: European Compact Sedan With Improved Engine System

The Audi A3 TDI Diesel is a small family and compact car produced since 1996. The sedans first two generations were based on a Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third generation was based on Volkswagen Group MQB platform.

The sedan first generation had two body styles, which were the 3-door hatchback and a 5-door hatchback. It was introduced in the European market from 1996 to 2003. The sedan has two transmissions, which were the manual and automatic transmission.

The sedan had a wheelbase of 98.9 inches. The dimension of the vehicle has 163.5 inches in length and 68.3 inches in width. It owned 56.0 inches in height. It was powered by an I4 petrol engine and a diesel engine inline four-cylinder.

The Audi A3 TDI Diesel had excellent headlights and rear lamps. It also had other minor cosmetic changes, like an improved interior and a six-speed manual gearbox. The gearbox had 180 PS, 1.8 Turbo, and the new 130 PS 1.9 TDI.

The Audi A3 had an incredible electronic stability control, standard brake force distribution monitoring and traction control. The sedan safety control had column lock, adjuster lever and bracket evaluation, which is located near the knee-impact area at the driver seat, as per Car And Driver.

The Audi A3 TDI Diesel had a maximum of 280 Nm of torque. It also used a different four-wheel drive system. It had a Haldex Traction, which adjusts the bias of torque distribution from the front to rear axle. The sedan was operated with front-wheel drive traction.

According to Auto Week, the sedan had a safety front airbags, side airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and standard load limiters. It came with great daytime running lights, common rail 2.0 TDI engines. It also had seven-speed S Tronic dual clutch transmission, and magnetic ride, which served as adaptive shock absorbers.

The Audi A3 TDI Diesel claimed the performance of 0 to 62 mph in 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph. It had a Magnetic Ride Suspension system, and 1.4 inches lowered base model.
