Rapper DMX was arrested in South Carolina this week for driving without a license according to TMZ.

The report states that the 42-year-old, whose legal name is Earl Simmons, was handcuffed and taken to Spartanburg Detention Center around 2 a.m. after a police officer saw him driving a 1978 Buick and pulled him over for driving without a license.

DMX appeared before a judge at 6 a.m. and was released after paying a fine according to the Associated Press.

"No, I didn't have a license," DMX said according to a local Fox affiliate. "(They) put cuffs on me. Brought me here. I paid the money. Basically, just five hours wasted for nothing."

The rapper's five-month-old daughter was in the back seat of the vehicle when he was arrested. Police officials also confirmed that DMX has been issued tickets before in Geer and Duncan, S.C. for driving without a license.

DMX has been living in South Carolina since 2011.

An on duty police officer spotted DMX as he was going into a Lil' Cricket gas station store around 1 a.m, and followed him a short distance after his car pulled out according to UPI.com.

A state DMV search indicates that he only has a state identification card currently according to TMZ.
