The gunman in the shooting was the ex-father-in-law of one of the victims according to law enforcement officials. The shooter has been identified as 68-year-old Thomas Matusiewicz of Edcouch, Texas by a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity according to the Associated Press.

Matusiewicz was the father-in-law of Christine Belford, 37, who police claim was shot Monday along with a neighbor Laura Mulford, 47. Matusiewicz, who also died, was armed with a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun, and exchanged gunfire with police.

Delaware State Police Sgt. Paul Shavack said Belford and Mulford were at the courthouse for a child support arrears hearing for Belford's ex-husband, David Matusiewicz .Shavack stated that Matusiewicz was being questioned and was in custody on a federal probation technicality.
