The new Shell app allows Jaguar owners to use PayPal or Apple Play through their car’s infotainment system to pay for fuel at Shell service stations. It can also log journeys and receipts, and offers the convenience of not having to leave the car to pay for fuel.
According to Car Advice, the recently-announced 2018 updates for the F-Pace SUV along with the XE and XF sedans, includes the option to pay for fuel at Shell service stations just by using PayPal or Apple Play from the vehicle's infotainment system. With this system, the owner is able to choose any pump on the forecourt and pay for the fuel even if he has forgotten their wallet or can’t find their credit or debit card. All the expenses and tax returns will be much simpler, as they will be sent electronically.
The new technology will become available In the Jaguar Lane Rover line-up as well. The new Shell app will be launched for models like the new Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Sport in the near future.
The Motor Reports said that the Shell app might be compatible with existing cars that are built since 2014. Jaguar is also looking to expand the in-car payment system to work with parking and drive-through food payments. This could mean the end of corporate fuel cards for leased or company cars because Jaguar can simply approve fleet payment plans for large numbers of vehicles.
Nowadays, more customers use electronic payments instead of cash, but Jaguar has developed a system to pay for your fuel directly from the car’s touchscreen. The system is currently exclusive to United Kingdoms, but Shell reported that it will be rolled out to additional markets globally during 2017. However, in Australia, the Shell app is expected to become available in 2018.
