The 2018 Honda Odyssey is one of the best minivans for the money. It is a great family car that provides plenty of extra space and comfort, safety, and good tech features.
Exterior. U.S. News reported that the new Odyssey received a bold exterior change to its roofline. In addition, the grille looks similar to that of a Honda SUV.
Interior. The second-row seats are no longer fully removable. Instead, they will soon contain a removable center section with a rail system, which can slide into various configurations. This is known as the "Magic Slide" seats.
The storage of the new Honda Odyssey is one of the largest cargo areas in its class. Similar to its predecessor, it will have 38.4 cubic feet behind the third row and 148.5 cubic feet behind the front row.
Powertrain. Car and Driver reported that the 2018 Odyssey has a new architecture shared with the Ridgeline pickup and the Pilot. Under the hood, the new minivan still has a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a horsepower increase from 248 to 280 hp. The previous six-speed automatic was removed in favor for a nine-speed AT, similar to the Pilot. Higher trims get a Honda-designed 10-speed automatic as well.
Tech and Safety Features. The 2018 Honda Odyssey will have an optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity with three new apps: CabinControl, CabinWatch, and CabinTalk. CabinControl will allow passengers to control the rear infotainment system, climate, and send destinations to the navigation system. CabinWatch will utilize a camera to monitor the second and third rows. Meanwhile, CabinTalk allows the driver's voice to project through a speaker in the back.
The Honda infotainment software will also get an update. It is now faster and smoother than before. A heated steering wheel and wireless charging will also be available.
Release Date and Price. The new Honda Odyssey 2018 will be available in spring of this year. The current Odyssey starts at $29,550 and the 2018 model will likely have a similar price point. The top of the line trim can go up to $36,200.
