The brand new 2018 Toyota Tundra was spotted going out for a test drive last week. The vehicle seemed to be installed with several upgrades, including new safety technological features and the TRD Sport packages from Toyota Racing Development.
The Toyota Tundra was not the top-selling pickup truck in the U.S. market these few months. However, the automaker had sold 60,000 units despite its 10-year old underdeveloped basic architecture, reported Times Free Press. However, spy photos revealed that the new 2018 Toyota Tundra has finally received updates with respect to its technological features.
The new model now has the new optional TRD Sport packages developed by the Toyota Racing Development, the automaker's performance enhancers. The updates include the Bilstein shocks and TRD front and rear anti-sway bars which improved the model's handling capacities, reported Digital Trends.
At present, the model runs with a 5.7L V-8 engine with a four-wheel-drive feature and can generate 381hp and 401lb-ft of torque, an optional feature of the pick-up truck. Base models are under the 4.6L V8 engine which can only generate 310hp and 327lb-ft of torque. The 2018 Toyota Tundra installed with the TRD Sport package are under the 5.7L engine.
Other upgrades include LED headlights and daytime running lights designed for particular trim levels. It also has new grille designs which give the model a smaller Toyota Tacoma look. Furthermore, the model has also been installed with a 4.2in digital display located between the tachometer and speedometer.
On top of which, the 2018 Toyota Tundra also has the Toyota Safety Sense suite which includes driver aids as its standard equipment. Although this feature can already be found on prevailing Toyota models, the pickup has the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, land departure alert, and the adaptive cruise control as its safety tech installments.
Usually, the 2018 Toyota Tundra is expected to be priced at a minimum of $31,000 to about $51,000. It will go on sale in the U.S. market later this year but the exact pricing for the models are yet to be announced.
