The new 2017 Chevrolet City Express is considered the smallest commercial van ever sold by the American Automaker, Chevrolet, and a rebadged Nissan NV200. But unlike the NV200, which is offered as a cargo van or a taxi, the Chevy vehicle is only available as a cargo van.
The van is available in a single body style that measures 183.3 inches long, 68.1 inches wide and 73.7 inches tall. Its dimension is roughly the same size as a long-wheelbase Ford Transit Connect. Compact measurements give a 36.7-foot turning radius.
A 2.0-liter I-4 powers the 2017 Chevrolet City Express with 131 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque, and it's matched exclusively with a CVT. The van's EPA rates are 24/26 mpg city/highway, which is similar to the Nissan NV200. But it's highway fuel economy is a bit lower compared to its rivals like the Ford Transit Connect and Ram ProMaster. Maximum cargo volume is 122.7 cubic feet.
The vehicle is only fitted with two seats, and Chevrolet said that it has no plans yet on adding a passenger-carrying model to its current lineup. The van highlights a simple, function-over-form interior equipped with several storage bins and a passenger rear seat that folds flat to show a tray table.
The automaker offers the van in LS and LT trim levels. The LS versions come standard with manual A/C, a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, an AM/FM stereo with a CD player, cloth-upholstered seats, daytime running lights, 15-inch steel wheels, power windows and front disc brakes.
While the LT trim added a second 12-volt outlet, a cruise control, backup sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, remote keyless entry and heated, and power-adjustable door mirrors. The LT versions also offer a Technology Package that includes a 5.8-inch color touch screen, a multi-function steering wheel, navigation, XM satellite radio and a rearview camera.
The 2017 Chevrolet Express is manufactured together with the Nissan NV200 in Nissan's Juitepec, Mexico manufacturing facility. It has a price tag of $23,817.
