The 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe is a big truck-based SUV that can seat nine. It can also tow big objects with relative ease. However, it is not ideal for daily driving as it lacks a lot of creature comforts found in other modern competitors.
Pros and Features. The 2017 Chevy Tahoe is a full-size SUV that can seat eight to nine passengers. Under the hood is a 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 hp and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also has a six-speed automatic only transmission with rear-wheel drive.
The Chevrolet Tahoe can fit up to nine passengers, and its standard V8 engine assures both power and good tow ratings. Its cabin is one of the best in the class, and the full-sized SUV also has decent off-road capabilities.
Cons. The Chevrolet SUV is large, and maneuvering in tight spaces proves to be very challenging. It also has a high floor which makes loading cargo in difficult. In addition, its cargo capacity is small compared to other full-size SUVs.
Its engine is not as responsive as others. The maximum passenger capacity is not available for higher trims.
What's New? This year, the top level trim is now called "Premier". It was previously "LTZ." Low-speed automatic braking paired with existing forward collision warning system, a backseat reminder, and a teen-driver management system are also new.
Models. The 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe comes in three models: LS, LT, and Premier. There is an option to split the front bench seat to increase passenger capacity to nine available on the base LS trim.
The LS features 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic wipers, cruise control, and active grille shutters for improved aerodynamics. It also has remote keyless entry, remote ignition, and rear parking sensors.
Inside, there is a tri-zone automatic climate control and standard upholstery and seats. There is also an OnStar emergency telematics with navigation, household power outlet, a Wi-Fi hot spot, MyLink infotainment system, smartphone integration features, and other tech features.
The Chevrolet Tahoe LT trim includes everything the LS has plus the optional Enhanced Driver Alert package which adds forward collision warning with low-speed automatic braking, among other features. It also has a power liftgate, a universal garage door opener, and a Bose sound system.
The Premier trim has everything the LT has plus its optional Luxury package. The optional package adds fog lights, front parking sensors, keyless entry and ignition, and other great features. Apart from that, the trim also adds 20-inch wheels, xenon headlights, and a better Bose sound system.
Verdict. The 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe is a big but clunky ride. It can store a lot of passengers and is perfect for towing as well. While it may not have as many modern features as most of its competitors, it is still a very decent full-size SUV overall. It has added tech and safety features that are excellent.
