Microsoft Surface Book laptops for UK consumption have reportedly increased its price tag. Apparently, the impact of Brexit is the culprit of the price increase, resulting in a rise of 11.5 percent. However, Microsoft clarified that the price hike does not apply to all products and services.
The price tags for the Microsoft Surface Book laptops have reportedly increased by $188 (£150). A source named Nic told TechCrunch that the prices have risen about 11.5 percent. This now makes the price tag of the base model to $1,810 (£1449) instead of the previous $1,623 (£1299).
The publication also claims that a spokesperson from Microsoft has confirmed to them some price increase. The spokesperson explained that the price increase was in response to their latest market review. Microsoft needs to adjust the British pound costing of several of their hardware and consumer software products so they can cope up with the current market dynamics.
The Microsoft source emphasized that the price increase only applies to products and services acquired by individuals or corporations with no volume licensing contracts. The staff detailed that their partners still have the prerogative to determine the final prices for indirect sales.
Meanwhile, the Microsoft Surface Book laptops have recently been rewarded with an approval from the U.S. National Security Agency. The laptop was included in the list of devices that have passed the high standards of cyber security of NSA.
This NSA approval means the Microsoft Surface Book is now allowed to be used by the U.S. government employees who are accessing secure information in the country. The list is more popularly known as the Commercial Solutions for Classified Program, which aids the government employees to perform their job more efficiently.
The US government invests in building a secure lineup of products prior to utilization of its staff. Each product is regularly evaluated by the Commercial Solutions for Classified Program to ensure strict compliance with the agency's high standards for cyber security. The Microsoft Surface Book has passed these high standards.
