NBA Trade Rumors: Serge Ibaka Might Land In Raptors Or Heat

NBA trade rumors are ablaze with the news that Serge Ibaka might be considered by Toronto Raptors as well as Miami Heat. The power forward might land up in one of the teams during the offseason pick.

The 6-foot-10 player has been eyed upon and it is reported that in the 9 days leading to the deadline for trade closures, Ibaka might land a deal. According to reports, Toronto and Miami are among the Eastern Conference teams who seem to be keen on Ibaka joining their roster.

Miami is a team which is doing considerably well off late. The team has lost Chris Bosh and hence Ibaka might be a good replacement. Ibaka could use his prowess on the defensive side. Also, he can pair up with Hassan Whiteside and become a great asset in the roster reported CBS Sports.

Toronto is going through an inconsistent phase and they might want to bank up on Ibaka to turn things around for them. Toronto is in dire need for a power forward like Ibaka. Also, he can add more value and perhaps help the Raptors to win against Cavs in the playoffs.

In summer, Ibaka will turn a free agent. This is the right time to grab an experienced player rather than him being a part of the free agency. However, this would also mean that Magic might try to retain him as the team might not want its asset to walk into the free agency, reported NESN.

When Ibaka was taken into Magic, they expected him to win games for the team. However, their hopes dashed after Magic remained at the bottom of the charts. Also, Ibaka couldn't make a mark in the usual defensive game where he excels. To make matters worse, Orlando is the second to worst team in the league in the overall defensive rating.

It does seem that Ibaka can truly add value to the teams like the Heat and Raptors. Having Ibaka on their side will boost their playoffs as the power forward can be quite excellent in defensive games.
