With advanced features, eco-friendly technology, and the legendary individuality, Kia Picanto is the ideal car to drive on the narrow and busy streets. With its distinctive shape, wide rear stance and chic personality, Picanto define style wherever you go.
Autoexpress reported the official details revealed for the new Kia Picanto. The car will go on sale in May, after its public debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Kia Picanto is equipped with new technology, as well as bigger and more practical interior. The buyers will be offered a choice of three engines and two transmissions, including a peppy 1.0-liter turbo for the first time.
Kia describes the car as an innovative, bold and fun-looking urban city car. All models gain 15mm in the wheelbase, extending the distance between the axles from 2,385mm to 2,400mm. The wheels are also pushed out to the corners for a shorter front overhang, yielding a sportier look and a tighter turning circle. All Picanto will get Kia’s trademark Tiger Nose grille, a beefier front end and LED lighting tech. There will be 11 paint options, including shades named Lime Light and Pop Orange, as well as Sparkling Siler and Aurora Black.
The car is equipped with high technology and bunch of safety features. The cabin design is built around a seven-inch central touchscreen. It features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as wireless phone charging and 3D mapping for the satellite navigation. Basic models come with 14-inch steel wheels, though alloy wheels are an option.
The customization will be a key selling point of the Picanto. There will be five optional interior color packs available from launch. The GT version gets red, silver and black highlights all over, as well as chrome-tipped exhausts. There is plenty of head and legroom in the front, while in the rear there’s enough space for taller adults on shorter journeys. The city car comes with a choice of either four or five seats.
According to Autocar, Picanto’s engine range is based around frugal petrol engines. Current options are a three-cylinder 1.0-liter petrol with 66 horsepower and 71lb/ft of torque and a four-cylinder 1.2-liter petrol with 83 horsepower. There is also a new turbocharged 1.0-liter petrol with 99 horsepower, and it’s the most powerful option. It can propel Picanto to 60mph in 10.1 sec. The exact prices haven’t been announced yet, but the new Picanto will likely cost from around £8,500 when it goes on sale in May.
