McLaren has revealed that they just built a new supercar that will replace the McLaren 650S and has a code name the McLaren P14 which is powered by a 4.0 liter V8 twin turbo engine. The new supercar will be making its official debut at this year's Geneva International Motor Show by next month.
The new model is said to accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in just 7.8 seconds and a standing quarter-mile in just 10.3 seconds. Its new 4.0-liter engine surpasses the 641bhp on the current 650S by 0.1 seconds and 0.2 seconds faster than the Lamborghini Huracan and Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The all-new McLaren P14 supercar is equipped with a Proactive Chassis Control II that allows drivers to select from three modes such as Comfort, Sport or Track modes. It uses sensors around the car that includes an accelerometer on each wheel hub, examines inputs from the road to modify the damping automatically.
Haydn Baker, McLaren Super Series vehicle line director, said, "The new 4.0-litre M840T is an outstanding engine powering an exceptional supercar capable of covering a standing quarter mile in 10.3 seconds. Power, torque and throttle response are all significantly enhanced compared to the first-generation Super Series, yet with fuel efficiency and emissions also notably improved."
The car also is fitted with a Variable Drift Control, which will allow the ESC intensity to be managed through a finger swipe across a control on the infotainment screen. With its new exhaust system, the automaker said that they were able to perfectly tune the car for it to give a unique aural experience. In addition, there will be sports exhaust system that will soon be offered as an option.
Other features will include a cast-aluminum air intake plenum, a McLaren Speedmark logo on top of the V8, and an engine bay illumination when the supercar is unlocked. The production variant of the McLaren P14 will be the first of McLaren's vehicles ever to be changed. It'll be the first of the 15 new McLaren supercar models due by 2022.
