Sarah Palin has reportedly parted ways with Fox News according to a report by Real Clear Politics, who reported the news first.
Palin, who signed a $1 million-a-year contract with the controversial news station in 2010, stated that she will not be renewing it according to The New York Times.
"A source close" to Palin told RCP that the former Vice President Nominee was offered a new contract by Fox, but respectfully turned it down. Fox News has already released a statement about Palin not resigning with them, by simply wishing her the best in the future.
"It's my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement," the source close to Palin told RCP. "She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion."
Despite having a love-fest with the Republican party, Fox News reporters have given Palin a hard time since she signed her first contract. Fox News CEO has even mocked Palin publicly and privately, reportedly calling her "stupid" on more than one occasion according to The Huffington Post.
New York Magazine writer Gabriel Sherman wrote back in Aug. that Palin's new contract would be anything but guaranteed and was "iffy" at best. The article came the same day Palin complained to the public that the network had canceled some of her appearances last notice.
Since mid-December, Palin has rarely been used on Fox News, which should have been a sign that the station wanted out of their deal just as much as Palin did.
Fox had constructed a studio inside Palin's Wasilla, Alaska house in 2010, where her husband Todd Palin would occasionally produce and run the camera during her live TV appearances according to RCP.
Her public appeal has also taken a turn for the worse since her peak when she ran for Vice President as part of Republican nominee John McCain's team in 2008. The duo lost to the now two-term President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Bidden.
For the time being, it's not clear whether or not Palin will pursue another contract with another station like CNN.
