Microsoft Surface Pro Coming February 9, Will Not Include Full Version Of Office 2013 (VIDEO)

This week, Microsoft announced that their new Surface tablet lineup would be released next month featuring the arrival of the Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8. New reports have confirmed however that the device will not include a full version of Office 2013.

A report by CRN.com claims that the Surface Pro will be targeted toward business owners, and providing a full version of Office 2013 could cut profits for Microsoft in half.

The tablet-laptop will feature a number of specs however, including a 10.6-inch screen with a 1920x1080 resolution, 4GB of RAM for either 64GB or 128GB, Intel Core i5 processor and USB 3.0.

The 64GB version comes with a Surface Pen as well.

The price of the 64GB will be $899 and the 128GB is $999.

"Given that Surface Pro runs on an Intel processor and Windows 8 with legacy application support will make a major difference in explaining it to consumers and it will be the best representation of Microsoft's interoperation of how the personal computer and tablet have evolved," said Michael Gartenberg, Gartner Research Director according to ABC News.

Accessories for the new Surface include limited-edition Touch Covers, available in red, can and magenta, which cost approximately $129.99 each according to Microsoft.

A Wedge Touch Mouse Surface Edition will also be made available for approximately $69.95.

The smaller Microsoft Windows RT also has a 10.6-inch screen, but only has 1366x768 resolution according to Microsoft. The specs for the RT includes 2GB of RAM which provides either32GB or 64GB options, and a quad-core NVIDIA Tergra 3 processor.

The RT options will be sold in more countries than the Pro according to AMOG.com . The countries include the U.S., Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, and the U.K.

The first version of the Surface was released in October with a new Windows 8 operating system for approximately $500. The tablet has rivaled the iPad ever since, as both devices are constantly battling for tablet supremacy.
