Forbes has reported that the price point of the new Apple smartphone will be over $1,000, as reported by several sources. However, there has been no confirmation yet if this figure is the starting or maximum price. So it is safe to assume that the new smartphone will be "around" $1,000. The report also states that this high price point is to help the Cupertino company recoup all of the recent declining price margins.

According to other sources, the new iPhone 8 will be the first and only 2017 Apple smartphone to integrate wireless charging. This new leak contradicts previous reports which claimed that the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus would get this new technology. However, the Cupertino tech giant has a workaround for these smartphones.

For these two models, Apple will opt to sell the wireless chargers separately. These will most likely be not backward compatible with older models. The report also mentioned that iPhone will release the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus, and the iPhone 8 or iPhone "X."

A newer update revealed that the new iPhone would be a 10th Anniversary model for the original. It is expected to have an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. This new development means that the new display will allow Apple to unveil its first bezel-less (borderless display) smartphone. This could also mean it could have a curved screen according to design consultant Raymond Soneira.

Apple's OLED supplier is none other than its top competitor Samsung. The two companies are also involved in several patent lawsuits against each other, but the Cupertino company has no other supplier choice since there are no other big suppliers. However, there have been reports that suggest that will make the curved OLED "experience" better than Samsung.

The iPhone 8 faces stiff competition. The Microsoft Surface Phone looks to be very promising, albeit delayed, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S8.
