Kia Motors announced they will be running an ad campaign during Super Bowl XLVII called "Space Babies." The ad is scheduled to be shown during the fourth quarter of the game on Feb. 3 according to The Wall-Street Journal.
The company stated they will be showing sneak peak previews of the commercials on their YouTube channel and in over 33,000 movie theatres across the nation.
"As the marketing event of the year, the Super Bowl is a high-profile platform that Kia has used very successfully in each of the last three years to launch new vehicles and raise consumer awareness and perception for the brand," said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, KMA according to The Auto Channel.
Kia is well-known for their Super Bowl ads, and was one of the first auto companies to have a commercial shown during the big game. Now, it's expected of every major company to have a commercial shown during the game and to spend millions of dollars to do so.
This particular campaign will be an advertisement for the 2014 Kia Sorento crossover utility vehicle. The vehicle will hardly be the only thing shown in the commercial however, as director Jake Scott plans to take viewers on a journey to a planet called "Babylandia."
Well over 100 million people watch the Super Bowl every year, with at least half of them watching just for the commercials and half-time show.

"Every day is an adventure in parenting, and 'Space Babies' is an entertaining look at life's challenges and the many ways the Sorento's long list of technologies and amenities can make getting through the day just a little bit easier," said Sprague.
