Mitsubishi unraveled the return of the mysterious looking Eclipse Cross, a compact SUV, the next crossover class of the company. It teased fans with the latest photos, and judging by the looks of it; it is breathtaking. As expected, car manufacturers are now revealing teasers for their next flagship before the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

For North American buyers, Eclipse is a very recognizable name since a stylish two-door coupe, and a convertible car used the name back in 2012. Mitsubishi plans to incorporate the Eclipse tagline and story to their new small SUVs. According to Auto Express, the design of the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV exhibit a chiseled nose, a sloping rear roofline, and steeply raked rear window. Other notable designs seen in the teaser are the chunky roof spoiler and one-piece rear taillight. Also, the teaser silhouette photos reveal the crossover in a high saturated color which symbolizes the brilliant color of the sun's halo.

Regarding full specification, Mitsubishi has not announced any information yet. There are hints saying the that Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV is available with a 1.5 liter four cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 2.2 diesel engine at launch. Also, four wheel-drive and optional automatic transmission will be offered at launch.

The Eclipse first debuted back in 1989 and was the originally manufactured at the North American plant in Normal, Illinois. The Eclipse together with the Endeavor SUV aims to cut the reduce costs and to focus on the crossover craze back in 2011. Unfortunately, Mitsubishi closed down the plant due to certain reasons last year. After the recent controversies happened to the company, the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV is set to bring back the reputation and at the same time the rebranding of the company.
