Although the Mitsubishi Lancer model has been labeled as a dying brand by car enthusiasts, the model still continues to dominate consumer preference in regions such as China and Japan. In fact, China and Taiwan developed the Grand Lancer, a response to its success in the automobile market.

 The Grand Lancer will have the 4J-series MIVEC engine installed which will be powered by a 1.8L model with CVT driving the front wheels. It would be able to generate 127 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. The dashboard, on the other hand, would have a lukewarm look to accommodate a color LCD display and infotainment unit. Although the other USDM model is safer than the Grand Lancer, the latter will still be installed with two airbags, reported Jalopnik.

The advantages of the Grand Lancer model are the reworked exterior styling that looks similar to its 2008 predecessor, and the reigning good reputation it has in China. In fact, it was determined that other models of the franchise died due to a complex target market. Since the Grand Lancer is a response only to Chinese and Taiwanese markets, it is forecasted that it will still enjoy healthy sales in that segment.

In other news, Mitsubishi Cars reported that the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer also made improvements on its own. Made available for purchase at a minimum of $17,795 for the standard model, consumers can choose from six different body paints, better handling performance, and enjoy a better driving experience with its All-Wheel Control feature.

Other technological advancements installed to the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer are 6.1 touchscreen and HD Radio which has a Rockford Fosgate Premium Sound System, a rear-view camera, optional navigation which affords 3D mapping, voice command, and real traffic updates, along with a 10-year/100,000-mi powertrain limited warranty. It can generate 148 hp, is installed with 16 in. alloy wheels which have automatic climate control and LED running lights.
