Chevrolet Raises $2.14 Million In Charity Auctions, 2014 Corvette Stingray, 2013 Camaro ZL1 Among Vehicles Sold

Five different Chevrolet performance vehicles raised a total of $2.14 million at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale collector car auctions this past weekend.

Proceeds earned during the auctions went towards different foundations like the Habitat for Humanity Detroit, the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, the American Heart Association and Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.

One of the models sold at auction was a brand new Corvette Stingray, with a Vehicle Identification Number ending in 0001, which sold on Jan. 19 to businessman and NASCAR team owner Rick Henrick for approximately $1.05 million according to the company press release. The proceeds will go towards the College for Creative Studies, which is one of the best institutions for industrial and transportation design.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray goes on sale later this year and was showcased for the first time this past week at the Detroit Auto Show.

An autographed press kit for the Corvette sold on eBay for $4,300 to Bowling Green, K.Y. Chamber of Commerce and will benefit the American cancer Society. The new Corvette was built in Bowling Green according to the company press release.  

Other vehicles sold at auction this past weekend included GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson's Regal Turquoise 1958 Corvette. The vehicle sold for $270,000, which will benefit the Habitat for Humanity Detroit to "improve the city's Morningside Commons" according to GM.

A custom designed 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition personalized by celebrity chef Guy Fieri sold for $270,000 over the weekend as well .The proceeds will go towards the Cooking With Kids program, founded by the Guy Fieri Foundation for Inspiration and Imagination. The vehicle includes a 505-hp LS7 engine and is painted black with custom yellow stripes.

A 2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible sold for $150,000, which will go towards the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.
