iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Update: Hackers Team Up To Jailbreak Apple’s iOS 6.1, iPhone 4S, 5 Users Should Remain Patient (PHOTOS)

The release of an untethered jailbreak for Apple's iOS 6.1 is apparently closer than ever after news broke that respected hackers that go by the Twitter handles planetbeing and pod2g have teamed up to jailbreak iOS 6.1 according to International Business Times.

With the news that the two hackers have teamed up, Apple users finally have something to get excited about after weeks of patiently waiting for something to happen.

"Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I'll try to reward myself with a nap" said planetbeing in a Twitter post.

Apple users need to remain patient for the time being, as neither planetbeing nor pod2g have explained what they're doing to try providing an untethered jailbreak for Apple devices like the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5. There is still a great deal of hoax websites promising a jailbreak when really they're just after your money.

As iPhoneHacks.com reported, the team has made great strides towards creating an untethered jailbreak, but they're probably not ready to reveal what they're doing or planning on doing to prevent other hackers from trying.

The now "imminent" release of an untethered jailbreak was revealed when planetbeing conducted a Reddit conversation a few weeks ago. During the interview, he stated that he was able to jailbreak his own phone, but was holding back on releasing the program for other users to download until Apple released 6.1.

During the interview, planetbeing claimed that by releasing an untethered jailbreak before Apple releases iOS 6.1 it could causes issues for many users. Instead he's decided to wait until 6.1 comes out, and is planning on adding a few more exploits that could create an untethered jailbreak for 6.1 instead.

Apple is currently scheduled to release 6.1 any day now, as at least four iterations of 6.1 Beta are available for testing according to the International Business Times.
