Jeep is in front of the pack when it comes to rock crawling. Their most capable production vehicle in the world, Jeep Wrangler is about to deliver even more capability with the addition to the new Wrangler Rubicon Recon.

According to Roadshow, Rubicon Recon includes a number of upgrades. The front axle has been upgraded with strengthened axle tubes and heavy-duty end forgings. There are cast differential covers for both axels. The rock rails have been shortened to fit tires up to 35 inches. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon is an upgraded version of the already impressive Rubicon loadout. It comes with Dana 44 axels with 4.10 axle ratios. They send power through a transfer case with a low-gear ratio of 4:1. With its six-speed manual gearbox, the crawl ratio is 73:1:1, which makes climbing relatively easy. Rubicon Recon also comes with a half-inch lift kit, 32-inch off-road tires, and a winch-capable front bumper.

Car And Driver reported that there are visual changes on the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon. The hood comes with model-specific graphics, there is also a front black grille and a set of 17-inch low-gloss black wheels wrapped in meaty 32-inch BFGoodrich tires. There are changes on the inside as well. It comes with a dash plaque, a distinct gauge cluster, plenty of red accents like the seat stitching, storage nets, switchplate covers for the axle locker, and sway-bar-disconnect functions.

There is also a quality of life changes such as remote keyless entry with remote start, a vehicle information display in the gauge cluster, automatic climate control, and more. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Edition goes on sale this month with a price tag of $40,140 for the two-door model, and $43,940 for the four-door Unlimited. That is $5500 more than the starting price of other Rubicon models. The additional equipment comes close to $3000 of worth. It is up to the buyers to decide whether this Jeep is worth the premium.
