Sony, the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation, announced the pricing and availability for the UBP-X800, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player at CES that was held last month. Sony said that it's the first 4K player that will be sold to consumers this coming March.

According to The Verge, the player will be compatible with virtual every optical disc format that includes Blu-Ray 3D and Super Audio CD. Sony will be selling the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player at $299.99 and will go on sales this March, and the company has provided an option for buyers to pre-order the device.

The player's price is pretty close to the price of the Xbox One S. The Xbox One S does not only have a 4k player but also can access hundreds of apps and can play games.

Meanwhile, Panasonic and Samsung both launched new players last year, and even companies like Oppo also have players out in the wild before Sony's debut player, the all new UBP-X800, has been released. Sony's new player may be more expensive than Samsung's UBD-K8500, but it's cheaper than both Panasonic's DMP-UB900 and Oppo's UPD-203.

Customers will also need to upgrade to a 4K TV from Sony if they will be buying Sony's new player. Sony currently offers a matching line-up of 4K TV's such as XBR-X900E, the XBR-X850E, and the XBR-X800E series which will be going on sale also this coming March. Prices will range from $999.99 for a 43-inch model all the way up to $7,499.99 for the top-end 75-inch set TV.

So far, 4K UHD is the best picture quality to get. A new trend of an 8K video is currently being developed, but the content isn't still shot and edited in 8K.

Furthermore, 4K Blu-rays players are also becoming more popular in stores, and with more customers, prices will surely come down. Sony's 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player so far is the best choice for customers who are looking for an ultimate 4K setup.
