‘Destiny 2’ Release Date Update: On Track For 2017 Launch Confirms Activation During February Earnings Report, Reddit Leak Debunked, & More

"Destiny 2" is still on the right track. Activision confirmed during their February earnings report that the sequel is set for a 2017 launch. For desperate fans who have been clamoring for news and even a few tidbits, you can now breathe a sigh of relief for there seems no delay for the much-awaited sequel.

Bungie and Activision have kept a tight lid on the sequel, so at least they have shed some light on the sequel. However, the exact date when the launch would have not yet been specified by the publisher.

According to an updated article from Kotaku: "Full Destiny sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise's global reach, which along with follow-on content plans, sets the stage for growth," says Activision in a slideshow for the February earnings report. In other words, "Destiny 2" is still planned for 2017.

Confirmation that the sequel is still on track broke Twitter with the Kotaku article adding a little bit of spice to the earnings report. Further, the report also noted that there are 3 more studios working on the sequel besides Bungie. This is perhaps Activision's strategy to ensure that they will be on time with the sequel's release.

Besides confirming the launch window, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed a few juicy details about the upcoming sequel. He said that they have a big reveal plan and that their team and partners are doing a great job on two aspects.

First off, as GameSpot reports, if you are one of the first game's millions of players and have dedicated yourself into the game, then "Destiny 2" will definitely make you fall in love with it and there are more reasons for you to love the sequel.

Second is that for those who have not ventured into the world of "Destiny" or for those who have gone astray and haven't played for some time, then the studio believes that they have made a sequel that will make them fall in love. Plus, "Destiny 2" will introduce an amazing cinematic story, something which the first game was highly criticized for lacking, and a great cast of memorable and relatable characters.

Also, they will have some amazing ways to make sure the sequel will be accessible to casual players without having to lose the interest of their core players. The much-anticipated sequel is expected to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Meanwhile, there have been talks of a PC release for the sequel, for the first time. If this is true, then we might be seeing a completely new game, an overhaul. So, you could simply retire your old gear for this one. Also, there is a high probability that Activision could introduce the sequel to international markets that they haven't been before.

In other news, the ridiculous rumor from a so-called Reddit leak has been debunked by the game publisher and is very much fake. The sequel will not be entitled "Forge of Hope."

So, this is exciting times for the game's fans. Expect more concrete details for the upcoming "Destiny 2" in the following months. In the meantime, stay tuned.
