The announcement for the new Cadenza came at the Cobo hall during the 2013 North American International Auto Show, confirming the rumors that Kia was looking to release a premium sedan vehicle.
The Cadenza will come with a new V6, 3.3-liter gasoline direct injection engine that will "improve performance while maintaining fuel efficiency" according to Kia. The six-speed automatic transmission option includes a sportmatic manual shift mode and wood-wrapped steering wheel.
"Since the introduction of the range-topping Optima SXL last year, we have seen an increasing number of customers in our retail outlets looking for a sedan with even more upscale amenities and technology," said Michael Sprague , executive vice president of marketing & communications, KMA in the company press release.
The new vehicle will come with optional features like Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection and Lane-Departure Warning System. Other features include SiriusXM radio, a 12-speaker audio system, back-up camera, and an 8-inch touch screen system.
The Premium Package will come with a full-length panoramic sunroof, headlamps, leather seats, and heated steering wheel. The Technology Package will include 19-inch alloy wheels, electric parking brake, and Smart Cruise Control which maintains a set distance to the vehicle and can stop the vehicle if necessary. The Departure Warning System provides audible and visual alerts to prevent a driver from veering into another lane without using a turn signal.
"The Cadenza is the new flagship for Kia in the U.S. market, and when it goes on sale later this year, it will introduce a number of advanced systems that promise to set a new standard in the premium segment," said Sparague in the press release.
