Microsoft has quietly teased the new look of Windows 10 during the Windows Developer Day keynote on Wednesday. The new look is care of Project Neon which is allegedly the company's new design language for the anticipated Redstone 3 update.

Microsft, Project NEON, and Windows 10. Details of Project Neon were leaked earlier in January. It appears that the changes to Windows 10 from the leaked Project Neon details are true. A slide during its presentation showed the Groove Music app with a design very much similar to the leaked images last month. The company, however, did not make any mention of Project Neon.

Microsoft has stated that the ambition for its new design language is to "make beautiful, engaging experiences possible on the Windows platform." The changes that could be seen from the design language will be coming via the Redstone 3 update which is expected to arrive in the fall of this year. Redstone 2, also known as the Creators Update, will be released this coming April.

Reported Project Neon leaks mention the goal of adding fluidity, animation, and blur to applications and the whole operating system. Also, it said to take its cue from HoloLens apps via highlights that replace solid square edges on selected objects.

The new design language is expected to be able to assist developers to create more aesthetically engaging applications and to extend over to other Windows 10 devices which include PCs, 2-in-1s, HoloLens, Xbox One, and possibly high-performance Windows phones.

Website Windows Central says that bits and pieces of the new code for Project Neon have already made its way to users via the recent Insider Preview builds of Windows 10. With the scope of the visual updates care of Project Neon being very large, it is highly unlikely that it will be done in time for the release of the Creators Update, also known as Redstone 2.
