Ford Plans To Hire 2,200 New Workers In U.S. In 2013 To Meet Growing Demand For New Vehicles

Ford announced this week that they're planning on adding 2,200 jobs in the U.S. this year, the largest increase of new salaried workers in over a decade. The company made the announcement in a press release this week.

The announcement should come as no surprise, as Ford has been determined lately to do whatever it takes to introduce new products. Ford reportedly added 8,100 new salaried jobs in 2012, as the company increased production and expanded engineering, manufacturing and other areas to meet demands for their state-of-the-art vehicles.

Ford is now very close to their goal of 12,000 U.S. jobs by 2015, as stated in their contract with the United Auto Workers union in 2011.

"Our One Ford plan is designed to create profitable growth, and our new hiring is a direct result of our plan working," said Joe Hinrichs, Ford Group Vice President in a press release. "As we expand our product lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles, we need more people in critical areas - such as in a range of engineering activities, vehicle production, computer software and other IT functions - to ensure we deliver the vehicles people want and value."

The company is hoping that the new jobs created will help support their global production as well. Ford has been committed to "offering the best in quality, fuel efficiency" vehicles that are also safe and affordable.

In an effort to draw attention to the new jobs, Ford has expanded their use of social media by using sites like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. They've also reportedly increased their recruitment of military veterans who are looking for work once leaving the armed forces.

To find more information on salaried positions offered by Ford, check out their Twitter or Facebook pages. If you like or follow either page, you'll have more of a chance to find out about new career opportunities that the company will be offering soon.

Ford will also be spending over $773 million on new equipment and capacity expansions in six facilities around Michigan. They're planning on spending over $6.2 in U.S. plants combined by 2015 according to the company press release.

"We are proud to expand our U.S. manufacturing operations in line with our aggressive new product introductions - and to create more jobs," said Jim Tetreault, Ford vice president of North America Manufacturing in the press release. "This would not be possible without the cooperation of our UAW partners. By working together, we have crafted labor agreements that improve our competitiveness and allow us to bring jobs back to Ford and the U.S."
