The new Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid has finally arrived in Europe. The new 2017 Prius Plug-in Hybrid is now on available for sale at £34,895.

The 2017 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid. The Prius Plug-in Hybrid EV is now available in Europe. The price of £34,895 is actually for the base trim Business Edition Plus. Interested buyers can opt for a sunroof for an additional £1,500. The top Excel trim retails at £37,095.

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid EV is very different from the regular Prius people know. The Japanese car manufacturer opted to give the vehicle a flashy redesign with no hint whatsoever of the standard model and is a looker in its right.

Standard on both trims is Toyota's Safety Sense package which includes a lane-departure warning with steering control and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Optional are rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.

 Toyota claims that the Prius PHEV has a fuel economy of 1.0 volts per 100 kilometers combined though this has yet to be confirmed in an actual road test. Also, Toyota has claimed that its CO2 emissions are 22 grams per kilometer.

The Prius PHEV sports a powertrain that consists of an 8.8kWH battery pack and a 1.8-liter petrol engine. Combined, both can produce 120 horsepower. The vehicle is said to go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 11.1 and can reach a top speed of 100 miles per hour. In EV mode, the Prius PHEV can achieve a top speed of 84 miles per hour.

Buyers are offered four powertrain modes namely HV, EV, EV City, and Battery Charge modes. The vehicle comes with 3 driving modes: Normal, Power, and Eco.

All Toyota Prius PHEV trims are eligible for a £2,500 Government grant for PHEV buyers. The first batch of customer deliveries is scheduled for March 1, 2017.
