CES 2013: Lenovo Debuts 27-Inch IdeaCentre Horizon Tablet, Equipped With Windows 8 (VIDEO)

Lenovo, one of the world's top PC companies unveiled a new 27-inch tablet computer that will be released this summer according to The Wall Street Journal. The tablet will be called "IdeaCentre Horizon Tablet PC" or Horizon for short according to the company.

The tablet essentially is a huge touchscreen, all-in-one desktop computer equipped with all the features you'd expect at this point from computer. Some of the features include Windows 8, hard drives with up to 1 terabyte of storage and an Intel Core processor.

Lenovo states that the device will be big enough so that four people can use it at once and 10 fingers will be able to do something simultaneously. The device is the size of eight iPads and weighs approximately 15 pounds according to The Huffington Post.

"Horizon makes personal computing interpersonal computing with shared, collaborative experiences among several people," says Peter Hortensius, president of Lenovo's Product Group, in a press statement.

 

The device will cost approximately $1,699 according to Lenovo, which is more money that most tablets and PC s. Lenovo's device will include over 5,000 apps, many of which will include multi-touch games designed specifically for the Horizon device.

The company made models available during a demonstration at the International CES this weekend. A 39-inch, wide-screen version will also be on display and demonstrated with similar features as the 27-inch version.

"Touchscreens are exploding as a technology," said Jay Parker, general manager of consumer and small business sales for the PC maker to The Wall Street Journal. "We really believe that this represents a new usage model."
