The Porsche 911 Carrera: Here's Why it is the Ultimate Sports Car

The Porsche 911 Carrera is undoubtedly one of the greatest sports cars ever produced. While the newer 911's have drawn mixed reactions, the 911 model is still one of the ultimate sports cars.

Business Insider recently wrote that the 911 Carrera is everything that a sports car should be. It argued that it is perhaps one of the greatest sports car ever produced by humans on Earth. They were able to arrive at this conclusion after testing a 2017 model priced at a cool $111,070. They got to drive the "Night Blue Metallic" color on the streets of Manhattan.

While the sports car market is filled with many options, the 911 just has something special. An affordable sports car like the Mazda Miata could go for less than $30,000 while a Ferrari 488 GTB will run up to $360,000. But the base price is $89,400 for a 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera may even be reasonable according to those who own one.

Originally released in 1963, the 911 was always considered odd-looking. It has bug-like headlights, a bulbous rear, and a distinctive rear-engine design that many people don't really understand. But it's still manufactured by one of the best car manufacturers in the world and also its best-known model.

According to Porsche, the 2017 911 has a 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine. It has a horsepower of 370 at 6500 rpm and can do 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 sec for Manual and 4.0-4.2 sec for PDK. Its top track speed is between 182 to 183 mph with a decent fuel consumption of 20-22 city driving and 29-30 mph highway driving.

The sports car is available in a wide array of colors - 4 standard, 8 metallic, 4 special, as well as custom colors. There are six wheel designs and 13 different interior color choices.

Other notable features include 19-inch Carrera wheels, twin single-tube tailpipes in brushed stainless steel, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). In addition, it also has a SPORT button, brake disks with 330 mm diameter front and fear, four-piston aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers in black for both front and rear, and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system including online navigation module.

The Porsche 911 Carrera remains to be one of the best sports cars in the world, according to Road & Track. It has all of the features one could hope for in a fancy sports car and it has character.
