The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT will grace the Chicago Auto Show in just mere days away. To amp up the excitement, the South Korean automaker released teasers of its upcoming hatchback that promises to make waves in its compact vehicle segment.
Since the Chicago Auto Show has seen a number of teasers, Hyundai joined in the fun and released its own. The new hatchback is relatively based on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra sedan, which by the way is an award-winning vehicle.

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT comes with a sportier look paired with its hatchback design. CNET reports that this new hatchback will likely be based on the traditional Elantra than on the Elantra Sport. This is indicated by the vertical fog lights on the front ends of the vehicle. The Elantra Sport has horizontal fog lights. The report furthered that the released interior images of the hatchback could have been from the sportier trim, whereas the exterior images could be from a traditional model.
Also, from the newly teased photos, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT sports its own unique grille and a few interior enhancements. Although details are scarce at the moment, this new hatchback could possibly have a new keyless start button with an automatic driving option, based on the teaser images.
According to MotorAuthority, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT could likely pack the same engine as that of the sedan. This would likely be a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine that produces 147 horses and 132 lb-ft of torque. But let's keep our fingers crossed that it could also pack the Elantra Sport's 1.6-liter inline-4 engine that delivers 200 horses or the Eco's 128hp I4.
We will definitely know more about the hatchback's rear, cabin tech, and other significant details that will make this vehicle stand out amidst its competition during the Chicago Auto Show, which will kick off on Feb. 9. In the meantime, check out the video below showcasing the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT teaser photos.
