The highly anticipated Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be a "monoposto." This means that it will be a single seater vehicle in Italian and therefore ideal for dedicated race car drivers or people who just don't want any passengers with them.

It was recently revealed that the Dodge Demon underwent a 215-pound weight loss. This means that Fiat Chrysler really went out of its way to make sure that this muscle car will be able to deliver so much so that they made it a single seater.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was able to lose the weight through several revisions. First, the muscle car was able to lose 58 pounds from removing the front passenger seat and seatbelt. It was able to lose another 55 pounds with the removal of the rear bench seat.

The Dodge Demon lost another 24 pounds by removing all of its audio speakers with the exception of the 2 front door speaker. It lost another 20 pounds by removing the spare tire/wheel and trunk liner. An additional 19 pounds was taken off by altering the small-diameter hollow saw bars: the front went from 34 mm solid to 29 mm hollow; rear went from 22 mm solid to 19 mm hollow).

Next, another 18 pounds was lost with the removal of 23 different NVH components for insulation. The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon lost another 16 pounds by changing its wheels into 18 x 11-inch aluminum wheels with long wheel studs and open lug nuts. They also use Nitto drag radials.

As for the brakes, 16 pounds were taken off through the use of lightweight aluminum brakes by Brembo. Finally, 4 pounds was removed with the removal of the power steering column and another 2 pounds from the removal of the parking sensors. All in all that was 215 pounds!

Expect the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to be fast. Also expect it to be light and graceful, given all the weight it lost. This car was built for serious race car drivers and enthusiasts and but hopefully, more details will be known by April during the New York Auto Show.
