Most people think that wagons are boring and staid. But Mercedes-AMG differs from the rest. Set to make a big appearance at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March is the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon, the all the more family-accommodating alternative to the E63 S vehicle introduced a year ago.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon returns with even more power equipped in it than before. Its 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 puts out an amazing 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. With a nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive, it'll sprint to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is up to 180 mph.
The wagon brags similar updates as the sedan on which it's based. The wheel curves are 1.1 inches wider, the hood is inset between its fenders, and the bumpers include a more forceful AMG design. However, since it's a wagon, cargo space is vastly improved than any vehicle out there, measuring 35 cubic feet with the back seats up.
To separate the E63 from the lesser powered counterparts, it picks up AMG bumpers with a grill exclusive to the elite E-Class wagon. Its bumpers are also wider to cater its wider tires, alongside its AMG-designed suspension. The car's fenders are designed like an arrow-shaped wing signets in silver chrome having a V8 BITURBO 4MATIC+ identification. Over to the back, it gets its own particular one of a kind tailgate spoiler.
Regardless of the power, Mercedes-AMG claims that practicality was not damaged. With all seats set up, cargo limit is estimated at 670 liters while folding the second row helps boost space to 1,820 liters. The car's interior gets a nappa leather trim for its instrument panel and beltlines, a crystal gray 12 o'clock marking sport steering wheel and contrast topstitching.
Meanwhile, other fancy performance kits on the car include adaptive air suspension and damping, adaptive engine mounts, and six-cylinder brake calipers matched with 15.4-inch ventilated rotors up front. Also, the vehicle will have a wider track than other E-Class versions.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon is expected to be on sale in the US by Fall 2017. Mercedes said that pricing details on the car will be announced at a later date.
