It's been recently reported on the news that luxury automaker, Maserati, is recalling approximately 40,000 Ghibli, Levante, and Quattroporte models in the United States in the wake of revealing two defects that could lead to fires. As indicated by U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration records, modifying the front seat risks can bring the risk of causing an electrical shortage and potential fire in vehicles from model years 2014 through 2017.

The company also is additionally recalling 10,879 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles for the 2014 and 2015 model years that may have fuel-line leaks. It hopes to start the recall of 10,879 vehicles for the defect on February 28.

Meanwhile, the latest models of the vehicles have proposed retail costs running from $71,600 to $145,500. Also, a few calls and messages to Maserati representatives weren't promptly returned outside of normal business hours.

The company released a statement stating, "The defect has been determined as a wrong design of the seat wiring harness layout with potential interference with the seat adjustment motor housing. This condition with normal use of the seat adjustment system, over time, can cause cable damage, and consequential seat adjustment malfunction, and in rare cases, a potential short to ground and a risk of fire."

"A weeping or leaking fuel line, over time, and in the worst case scenario, can cause a fire in the engine compartment or underneath the car," the company said. The recalls show the third in the previous year for the automaker, which is claimed by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

An announcement made on the website of the nation's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in May, stated that Maserati recalled vehicles from China just about 20,000 Quattroporte and Ghibli models manufactured between 2013 and 2015 because of an issue that could affect the rear wheel. Two months prior, the company also recalled 28,235 of the vehicles in the U.S. for floor mats that could move and become caught between the accelerator pedal and vehicle carpet.
